Sarah. 18. Grammar Nazi. Comes complete with New York accent--sarcasm sold separately. Currently stuck in Atlanta, but returning home circa 2010 for The Great Condé Nast Interview of '10. Obsessed with old films and all kinds of books (Are you there, Nick Carraway? It's me, Sarah!). Has odd tendency to use the British spelling of certain words, despite not being British. Doesn't take much seriously. No patience for stupidity. Psychotic, but absolutely right--and you are my new best friend if you caught that allusion.

Objects of My Affection: Hugh Laurie, the father of my three illegitimate children. Andersoon Cooper, the only news persona who could possibly replace Ron Burgundy in my heart. Conan O'Brien, whom I plan on stalking admiring from afar upon return to the greater Metropolitan area. Jon Stewart, the only fake news persona who could possibly replace Anderson Cooper in my heart. And, of course, George Harrison. He's not dead. Shut up.
"It won the Academy Award." "For what?" "For best movie ever made." All the President's Men, the greatest journalism film ever made. Robert Redford-as-Woodward: Perfect man? I think so. (I have a thing for journalists. Shut up.) Romeo and Juliet (1968), The Graduate, Bonnie & Clyde--the movie from which I get all my fashion tips, Titanic (I am NOT ashamed!), The Thin Man collection, Gone With the Wind, Notorious, Casablanca, My Man Godfrey, Dinner at Eight, West Side Story, The Best Years of Our Lives, North by Northwest, Bringing Up Baby, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Some Like It Hot, Chicago, the Fred & Ginger box set, ridiculous movies like Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and Animal House or anything with the Frat Pack, and any Audrey Hepburn movie to cheer me up when it rains, especially Breakfast at Tiffany's, How to Steal a Million, Charade, Funny Face, and Sabrina.

"Read less. More TV." House, Seinfeld, the early days of That 70's Show, prematurely canceled shows like Andy Richter Controls the Universe & Arrested Development, the first season--and the first season only--of The OC, before it was corrupted by popularity (Alas, poor Yorick!), Phil of the Future (That show is so witty. What the hell is it doing on the Disney Channel?), Just Shoot Me, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, old TV shows like The Dick Van Dyke Show, Happy Days (pre-shark jump), and Green Acres, and "news" shows like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Anderson Cooper 360. (Well, okay, the last one is real.)

The stuff on my Last FM. The Beatles, 'cos those are my boys, The Who, The Steve Miller Band, Cheap Trick, The Kinks.
Yay, books! I have a scary obsession for La Gatsby, probably more so than anyone in the recorded history of man. It's that bad. I'm not one to claim myself as the number one fan of anything, but if I were, I'd do so for this book--I guess I just did! Fitzgerald is my main man--well, him and Hemingway--and while I do believe he didn't ever achieve anything even CLOSE to what he did with Gatsby, that's like saying Shakespeare was a failure 'cos he never topped Hamlet, but he still had King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, etc. (Yeah, I SO just compared Scott to Billy Shakespeare. I went there!) I love This Side of Paradise & his short stories as well. Same goes for The Beautiful & Damned--well, it had isolated moments of genius. Not too crazy about Tender is the Night or Love of the Last Tycoon. I love almost anything by Hemingway, especially A Moveable Feast & A Farewell to Arms. For Whom the Bell Tolls is also fabulous, but it's like Hemingway revived Catherine Barkley, reunited her with Frederic, and plunked 'em down in Spain instead of Italy. So: Rehash of AFTA, yes, but still awesome. Also, ANYTHING Shakespeare. I think Romeo & Juliet might be my fave, just because it was the first one I read, but it may not be possible to have a favourite Shakespeare. It's like having a favourite Beatles song--you can't choose just one! ANYTHING by Salinger (especially CITR, but everything he wrote was brill. If you liked CITR, don't just go around talking about how you're soooooo much like Holden; instead, do yourself a favour & read the rest of Salinger's work. You won't regret it.) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. On the Road by Kerouac. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Short stories of Ring Lardner. Poetry of Eliot, Wordsworth, Plath, & Dorothy Parker, 'cos I just love everything she ever did. ANYTHING by Oscar Wilde. Pride & Prejudice, just 'cos I'm a young, impressionable girl, haha. Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. \ANYTHING by Plath. Everyone here needs to read the Unabridged Journals RIGHT NOW! I'm reading Johnny Panic & The Bible of Dreams right now, which is a compilation of short stories & prose; it's kind of a hodge-podge, but still good. I especially enjoyed "The Shadow" & "The Daughters of Blossom Street".
